Sculptural at Coombe Trenchard Gardens
2012 sees Coombe Trenchard hosting its first major sculptural art event as part of its arts season. On 15th June we will open the gates to Sculptural a celebration of new, British sculptural art forms and unique pieces of garden furniture and design. Curated by the William Benington Gallery this event will include the work of both up and coming and established sculptors and makers.
We have always had a passion for art and design and believe that the gardens at Coombe Trenchard present the opportunity to display sculptural art and artfully created furniture in the perfect context. The landscaping skill of the Edwardian Arts & Crafts architect, Walter Sarel, has provided ample vistas, niches and stages in the formal gardens, the woodland garden and the many terraces to allow us the luxury of placing the each piece in its perfect location. Unlike the gallery concept of placing many pieces of art in competition for your attention, to the detriment of all but the most bold, we hope to harmonise placement and art.
Sculptural will run for 7 weeks in the summer and, apart from additional special events, will be open from 11am to 5pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday each week. Entrance £5.
